Abstract
The auther has meausred the stature, span, upper, and lower extremity lengths, and weight of 5,490 Korean girls ranging from 12 to 15 years of age to examine their physical growth conditions and then calculated the correlation coefficients between the items in each age group. As the result, the following conclusions have been drawn. 1. The stature of 12 years of age group is 149.14§¯ and 15 years of age group is 155.36§¯, and the annual average growth is 2.07§¯. 2. The span of 12 years of age group is 146.86§¯ and 15 years of age group 153.76§¯, and the annual average growth is 2.30§¯. 3. The upper extremity length of 12 years of age group is 65.81§¯ and 15 years of age group is 68.93§¯, and the annual average growth is 1.04§¯. 4. The lower extremity length of 12 years of age group is 82.91§¯ and 15 years of age group is 84.69§¯, and the annual average growth is 0.59§¯. 5. The body weight of 12 years of age group is 40.68§¸, and the annual average gain is 2.64§¸. 6. As a whole, stature, upper and lower extremity lengths, and body weight grow most rapidly between 13 and 14 years of age groups. 7. Stature is longer than span at any age group and the difference between stature and span (2.28§¯ in 12 years of age group and 1.60§¯ in 15 years of age group) reduces with the increment of age. 8. The correlation coefficients between stature and span, and span and upper extremity length are very high, and the values are more than 0.8 respectively. 9. The correlation coefficients between stature and lower extremity length, stature and upper extremity length, span and lower extremity length, and upper and lower extremity lengths are more than 0.6, relatively high. 10. The correlation coefficients between stature and body weight, span and body weight, upper extremity length and body weight, and lower extremity length and body weight are between 0.4 and 0.6. 11. All the above mentioned correlation coefficients have relatively high tendency in 12 and 13 years of age grops, whereas these items have a tendency to reduce in 14 and 15 years of age groups.
